Click for Milestones "Very early on, Mimie was fascinated by the Orient. A widely travelled aunt brought back art objects, such as paintings, drawings, calligraphy, pottery and sculptures, and Mimie spent hours silently admiring these exotic treasures. She put this exposure to beauty to good use, assiduously drawing and painting.

In 1960, Mimie Bourbeau married Claude Langlois. Shortly after their marriage, the couple moved to Buffalo in the United States, where Mimie studied ceramics and art history at the Allbright Museum.

In 1963 she left for Europe, where she spent a year immersed in Western culture, visiting the museums of France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium and Holland. She also explored Eastern culture in Japan and China. Along with her artistic endeavors, Mimie continued to deepen her understanding of Japanese civilization, spending time in Zen monasteries and studying martial arts. In fact, she holds a black belt in karate. Her interest in sport took her even further in becoming a certified rescue diver in under-ice scuba diving."

Extract of writings by Diane Corriveau, M.A.

Since the mid-sixties, Mimie Langlois has taken part in hundreds of group exhibitions and some thirty solo shows in North-America and France. Her works grace numerous private, public and business collections, including those of University Laval, University of Montreal, Bell Canada and Abacus. She has been an active member of UNESCO since 1960.
